Búzios
has
always been vísited
by
peop/e from
many
parts
of
the
world
/n the 17
th century,
Búzios suffered
constant invasions by the French and English,
it
was a base for pirates,
point
of
trafic
of
the Pau-Brasil
tree
and disembarkation
of
african
slaves.
Duríng
the 1700’s the Armação das Ba/eias
de Búzios
was created,
whith
consísted of
a structure
formed
to capture wha/es on
certain
beaches, at certaín
times of
the
year
These whales were
persecuted
for the draw
of
their
oil.
This oil
fed the illumination
of
the city of
Rib de Janeiro
and from
there
it
was
also exported.
Despite
of
íts short
duratíon
, thís activity
caused the appearance of
a vi//age that deve/oped
ín this scenery.
In
the
beginníng of
the twentieth
century,
Búzios started
to receive immígrants
of
many nationa/ities who eventually
estab/íshed themse/ves. In
the 1960’s the attention turned to the
still físherman
‘s vi//age after
a visit of
the famous
Fíench actress
Brigitte
Bardot.
The peninsu/a
began to attract
many foreign
tourists
besides
the interest
of
the
high class of
Brazil’s principal cíties.
Geographica//y,
the various curves of the península shelter calm
coves, rough beaches, big and sma// beaches, wíld beaches,
a/ways with unreal co/ors and framed by is/ands in
a near dístance. In the interior of the peninsu/a we
find the “Mata Atlantica “ vegetation, with a exotíc
variety of fauna and flora. The charming town of Búzios,
just emancípated from Cabo Frio (January 1997) presents
an original and personalized arquitecture besides an
atmosphere of enchantment and discovery beginning with the
very fírst moment.
In
the middle of all thís natural beauty live people of
different cultures, customs and languages which transform
Búzios into a village of surprises.
